My name is Karen Henao, I was born October 6, 1992 in Medellin city. I live in Medellin with my family, my mother, my two sisters and my daughter.
when I was a child, my dream was to be an engineer and learn different languages. Nowadays I'm doing that my dream come true.
I work as a protocol model and math teacher. My favorite food is Italian food and wine. I love animals but I don't like living with them at home. I was a teenage mother (17 years old). I had a baby girl, her name is Alisson Henao, she is my favorite person in the world... everything I do, I do it for her.
Thinking about languages, I am going to talk about my orientation for languages as a major in my life.
At the moment to decide what do you want for your professional life, a lot of wishes and desires invade your mind. There are a lot of reasons to decide study this major, a major where know people and have a direct interaction with all kinds of people around the world is the main characteristic. Since I was a child, my biggest dream was being a multilingual person and teaches economical science in other languages. I loved mathematics but didn't want to be a Spanish mathematics teacher. The final year of high school become, and I decided to present the admission exam in this university in foreign language teaching for my interest in languages and present the exam in the National University, both in Medellin. I had the fortune to pass both exams, but study in two universities at the same time resulted impossible in that moment because I was in pregnant and I had to decide only one major. My family always respects my decisions about my life, in that moment this decision was only my responsibility. I decided be a teacher.
Have contact with that I love... cultures and people was my best decision. Languages are a little difficult for me, but I love seeing like my thinking can influence in other people’s life, the child who wants to be like mine. I love to feel that I can help to improve a child’s life through my class… English and French are only an excuse to be near to people with all kinds of beliefs and I love it.
